Brussels-The Syrian community in Belgium and a number of European Union countries celebrated the success of the presidential election and the winning of Dr. Bashar al-Assad in it during a national event held at the Syrian Embassy in Brussels.

Participants in the celebration expressed their joy and pride in the results of the election process, stressing that it reflected the adherence of the Syrian people to their independent will and sovereignty of their homeland without any external interference.

In turn, Acting Chargé d’ affaires of the Syrian Mission to the European Union, Abdel Mawla Al-Naqari, affirmed that the election results were a crowing for the successive victories in Syria against terrorism and its supporters, pointing out that fulfilling the presidential election as scheduled has proven resilience and solidity of the Syrian position in the face of a conspiracy that targeted Syria.

The Syriac Orthodox Archbishop of Belgium, France and Luxembourg, Georges Kourieh, for his part, congratulated the Syrian people over President al-Assad winning the election, saying “we hope work and circle of life would return to Syria to fulfill prosperity, stability, security and progress in all fields.”
