The Syrian Embassy in Beirut issued on Wednesday the following statement:
"The media has recently tackled the issue of abuse to Syrian citizens working in Lebanon, their ill-treatment and other inappropriate practices that have reached the point of imposition of forced labor. The Embassy considers this a violation of the values and norms set between the two brotherly peoples, and calls upon everyone to stay away from exaggeration and stop sowing discord because such behavior is harmful to all.
In this context, the Embassy commends the position of President Michel Aoun and his calls for the rejection of incitement and mobilization against the displaced Syrians...
The embassy confirms that it is always following up on the affairs of its citizens, and spares no effort to do everything that could preserve the dignity of the Syrian citizens and their rights, while maintaining the fraternal relationship between the two peoples and the two countries."
