Jordan is experiencing notable temperature fluctuations as Tuesday brings a slight decrease in temperatures while the country remains engulfed in a persistent heatwave. According to meteorological reports, the weather pattern is expected to persist throughout the week, with various regions experiencing distinct conditions.
Over mountainous regions and plains, the weather is forecast to be hot, while areas of the Badia, the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba will see extremely high temperatures. The heat is further accentuated by the appearance of clouds at varying altitudes.
A noteworthy feature in the weather forecast is the possibility of scattered rain showers in the southern part of the country for a brief duration. To complement this, moderate northwesterly winds are predicted to intermittently gain strength, potentially leading to dust storms, particularly in desert locales.
In its daily report, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) emphasized caution due to several factors. Fog formation is anticipated in the early hours of the morning over elevated mountainous terrain. The public is also warned against prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and reduced visibility due to dust in numerous areas. This reduced visibility, at times non-existent, could particularly pose challenges on desert roads.
In addition, the JMD advised against the storage of flammable materials, sanitizers, and perfumes, and leaving children or elderly individuals unattended within vehicles, considering the extreme weather conditions.
The forthcoming days of Wednesday and Thursday are expected to retain the prevailing pattern, with hot weather continuing over mountainous regions and plains. Meanwhile, the Badia, the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba are set to experience exceptionally high temperatures. Clouds will grace the skies at both medium and high altitudes, offering some respite.
As the week ends, Friday is projected to witness a minor uptick in temperatures. The weather forecast will remain consistent with hot conditions over mountainous terrain and plains, and the same elevated temperatures are anticipated in other regions. Eastern areas of the country may also observe the appearance of clouds at medium and high altitudes.
Today’s peak temperatures will be between 38 and 34 degrees Celsius in Amman and various highlands throughout the Kingdom, with lows of 23C or even 22C in the southern highlands at night. The Gulf city of Aqaba will have scorching weather, with highs of 42C and lows of 29C.
