Baghdad / NINA / – Foreign Ministry spokesman, Ahmed Al-Sahaf, announced that Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein had received a call from his Iranian counterpart, Hussein Amir Abdullahian, in which he thanked Baghdad for facilitating talks with Saudi Arabia.

Al-Sahhaf said in a statement, “Deputy Prime Minister? Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein received a call from his Iranian counterpart, Hussein Abdullahian, during which he thanked the minister and the Iraqi government for preparing talks with Saudi Arabia during the past period.”

He added, “The two sides discussed, during the call, the situation in the region.”

Today, Friday, Iraq welcomed the agreement of Saudi Arabia and Iran to open a new page in relations between the two countries.

A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses its welcome to the agreement reached between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Iran, according to which a new page of diplomatic relations between the two neighboring countries begins.”/ End
