ABU DHABI, -- The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Friday affirmed that its focus now was on the humanitarian situation in Aleppo, and dismissed reports that diplomats visited Damascus recently.
These reports aimed at diverting attention from the situation in Aleppo, which was under siege by the Syrian regime forces and their allies, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr. Anwar Gergash said in a statement.
"The priority now is for the humanitarian situation in Aleppo," Gergash was quoted by the official WAM news agency.
He categorically dismissed the reports that a delegation of diplomats visited Damascus.
These reports are mere rumors, he said and described them as the "filthy weapon."
This "is a new baseless rumor about a UAE diplomatic delegation arriving in Damascus," said Qergash.
