TEHRAN, June 2 — UAE Ambassador to Tehran Seif Mohammad bin Obayd al-Zabi underlined Iran’s effective and important role in maintaining economic stability of the region.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran is an effective actor in the region’s stability,” Zabi said in a meeting with members of Tehran’s Chamber of Commerce on herei in Tehran on Sunday.
He referred to the good economic relations between Iran and the UAE, and said third-party issues couldn’t affect the ties, adding that the volume of trade exchanges between the two countries is much higher than official figures.
His remarks came as the UAE’s largest-ever trade delegation arrived in Tehran on Sunday morning to discuss different ways of expanding trade and economic relations between the two countries in meetings with Iranian officials.
The Emirati delegation, which is be headed by Chairman of the UAE’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mohammad Sani al-Ramisi, comprises of the representatives of the chambers of commerce of the country’s seven emirates.
UAE traders and businessmen active in oil, gas, banking, food industry, car-manufacturing and investment sectors are among the members of the trade delegation.
According to a report by Tehran’s Chamber of Commerce, the UAE traders will hold meetings with managers and directors from Iran’s private sector as well as the country’s Economy Minister Ali Tayyebnia, Industry Minister Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh and Governor of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) Valiollah Seif.
Iranian officials have repeatedly stressed that they attach vital importance to the consolidation of ties with other Persian Gulf littoral states.
Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani and Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC) of the UAE Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr in a meeting in February stressed the need to expand the two sides’ all-out cooperation.
Also in April, Iranian and UAE officials in a meeting in Ajman (one of the seven emirates constituting the United Arab Emirates) discussed different ways to further broaden cooperation between the two countries.
