President of the Republic, Michel Aoun, told on Thursday European Union foreign policy chief, Federica Mogherini, that the parliamentary elections would take place right on time.
"The legislative elections will be held according to an electoral law that meets the aspirations of the Lebanese and guarantees correct representation," President Aoun said.
"Lebanon started with the recovery of various sectors to achieve stability at the security level," Aoun underscored, expressing Lebanon's recognition of EU's support and hoping that developmental projects will continue.
He added that he will fulfill the promises he made in his oath speech.
Mogherini expressed her satisfaction for the relaunching of constitutional institutions' work after the election of the Head of State.
"These elections reassured EU member states, which expressed readiness to continue their support to Lebanon," she underscored.
"The EU appreciates Lebanon's sacrifices to help Syrian refugees, and it will work to provide the necessary support to the Lebanese state institutions," she said.
The meeting was attended by the EU Ambassador to Lebanon, Christina Lassen, and Mogherini's deputies.
Aoun also received respectively the former Yemeni President, Ali Nasir Muhammad, a delegation from the Arab-Iranian Forum, former Minister Alain Tabourian, Head of the Popular Bloc, Miriam Skaff, a delegation of Doctors from North Lebanon, and a delegation from the wine sector in Lebanon.
