US SENDS AIRCRAFT TO SYRIA TO DEFEND COALITION FORCES

WASHINGTON, -- The US has sent fighter jets to Syria to defend American advisors and Kurdish forces after they were attacked by Syrian regime's warplanes regime on Thursday near Hasakah.

"This was done as a measure to protect coalition forces," Pentagon spokesperson Jeff Davis said on Friday. "We did make clear that US aircraft would defend troops on the ground if threatened." No injuries were reported, he added.
