Vir Das is primarily known for his brand of comedy, but he plays a dark character in Revolver Rani. He says an actor must try different genres, and with his latest film, he’s stepping out of his “comfort zone”.
“As an actor, it’s my responsibility to try different things. I am known for my comic timing, but I’m coming out of my comfort zone and trying different genres,” Das said.
“If you see the line-up of my upcoming films, you will realise what I am taking about,” added the actor-comedian, who has Sanjay Chhel’s untitled film and Santa Banta in his kitty.
Talking about Revolver Rani, which features Bollywood’s Queen Kangana Ranaut in the lead role, he said: “It is an unusual film which I have not attempted before. It’s a film with the pulp.”
Asked if he will be overshadowed by Ranaut, Das said: “You have to see the film for that. I said I choose to do this film for a reason as it’s very unusual.”
The film is directed by Sai Kabir
