Very hot conditions are expected today in Palestine with a significant rise in temperature to become 8°C above the seasonal average with a slight chance for sporadic light rainfall starting at night, according to the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD). Winds are easterly to southeasterly, moderate to active, and dusty. Sea waves are low. Temperature in the capital, Jerusalem, and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 33°C and a low of 22°C and in Ramallah and Hebron a high of 32°C and a low of 21°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea, and the Jordan Valley temperature is expected to reach a high of 42°C and a low of 28°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 34°C and a low of 24°C in Gaza and the coastal areas. A drop in temperature is expected tomorrow, Sunday, but remains 4°C above the seasonal average. However, as the country is affected by atmospheric instability at night, rain will be expected in most regions along with thunderstorms and occasional hail. Monday’s temperature is set to further drop, paving the way to partly cloudy to cloudy skies and mild conditions in the daytime and mild to slightly cold conditions at night. The chance remains for sporadic torrential rainfall and thunderstorms with occasional hail. No change in temperature is expected for Tuesday. PMD warned people against being exposed to the sun for long periods, particularly from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and setting fire to dry grassy areas on Saturday and Sunday, as well as from floods in valleys and low areas, mainly in the south and east of the country, slippery roads, and low horizontal visibility.
