Dubai: The World V team and Dubai Duty Free clinched top honours in the women’s and men’s categories at the end of the Second Emirates Group Open Volleyball Tournament held at Al Ahli Club over the weekend.
After impressive performances through the round-robin stage, the World V team met the Volley Girls in the final and won 25-20, 25-22 despite a gallant display from Volley Girls’ most valuable player Jelena.
In the men’s competition, Dubai Duty Free were unstoppable as they powered to a 25-13, 25-21 win over the French Touch team. Mafi Hada finished third.
Jishad Abdul Karim of Dubai Duty Free was adjudged the most valuable player of the tournament.
Fifteen teams participated in the annual competition, which brings together volleyball enthusiasts under the umbrella of the Emirates Group Volleyball Club.
Esmail Ali Al Banna, Executive Vice-President, Dnata, and Chairman, Emirates Group Volleyball Club, presented the trophies and prizes to the winners.
