Zakharova: Turkish Aggression on Syria would Cause Further Escalation of Tensions

Moscow, SANA- Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova affirmed that launching an offensive operation in Northern Syria would provoke an additional escalation of tension in this country, leading to further acts of terrorism .

Speaking to journalists, Zakharova stated: “We maintain close contacts with the Turkish side on the Syrian issue, Russia believes that Turkey’s ground operation on Syrian territory would lead to tension in the region”.

Russia calls on Turkey for restraint to prevent further escalation in Syria, presidential envoy for Syria Alexander Lavrentiev told reporters on Tuesday.
