President Abbas to address UNGA today

President Mahmoud Abbas is expected to deliver the State of Palestine’s speech this evening before the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The President will ask the international community to shoulder its responsibilities towards the Palestinian people and their ongoing suffering as a result of the Israeli occupation authorities’ insistence on continuing their violations against their land and sanctities, in disregard of all international conventions and norms. He will demand immediate action to provide international protection for the Palestinian people.

President Abbas will talk about the importance of international support for the Palestinian endeavor to gain full membership in the United Nations and urge more countries to recognize the State of Palestine in an effort to preserve what remains of hope for achieving the two-state solution.
