UAE is a strategic partner in promoting good governance: President of Central African Republic

DUBAI: Faustin-Archange Touadéra, President of the Central African Republic (CAR), said the UAE is a strategic partner in promoting good governance; the key to every country’s success.

In his main address delivered at the World Governments Summit (WGS) 2024, held in Dubai until 14TH February under the theme ‘Shaping Future Governments’, Touadéra called for a world order characterised by growth, balance, international cooperation and respect of sovereignty.

He stressed that every country, regardless of economic weight, is capable of achieving progress without being exposed to outside interference or unilateral measures.

Touadéra said the Central African Republic is rebuilding its education system, working to provide drinking water and power, while reevaluating vocational and technical training programmes to inject the market with qualified labor. Such measures can help resolve issues of unemployment and address women empowerment.

‘These efforts align with our dialogue-based approach, inclusiveness and good
governance, helping to support Africa’s path towards peace and safety,’ Touadéra said.

He called upon Central Africa’s financial partners to think outside the box and propose innovative tools that can accelerate implementation of political strategies and development efforts. Parallel to these efforts, there is a focus on diplomatic ties based on economic growth and mutual benefits.

‘As governments, we need to continuously revise our governance approach, and strive to offer innovative, end-to-end solutions to global challenges, including climate change, geopolitical tensions and unprecedented energy- and food security challenges,’ he concluded.
