UN anti-corruption conference pledges to strengthen int’l efforts to implement UNODC

Chairman of the Administrative Control Authority (ACA) Hassan Abdel Shafi said the 9th session of the Conference of State Parties (COSP) to the United Nations Convention against Corruption has pledged to consolidate international efforts aimed at implementing the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNODC).

 

In the final communique of the COSP that ran from December 13 to 17 in the Res Sea resort city of Sharm El Sheikh, Abdel Shafi said the conference addressed a number of topics of paramount importance to the UNODC.

 

He added this session came after the Special Session of the United Nations General Assembly Against Corruption (UNGASS 2021), which adopted a political declaration on preventing and combating corruption for years to come.

 

The ACA head expressed his appreciation of the great efforts made by international government organizations and the civil society in combating corruption as part of the UNODC.

 

The conference saw the participation of five heads of state via video-conference, 50 ministers and 30 heads of the anti-corruption bodies, as well as 268 international civil society organizations.
