Washington: Thursday's powerful 7.3 magnitude earthquake occurred in Chile's mining-heavy Antofagasta region, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre. The earthquake, which was centered around 20 km south of San Pedro de Atacama, was not expected to cause a tsunami, according to the U.S. Tsunami Warning System and the national disaster prevention and response service of Chile.
