Sharjah: Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC), presided over the first procedural session where it was decided to maintain the existing structure of its permanent committees. The council affirmed the continuation of seven key committees, each focusing on different sectors such as legislative affairs, economic development, education, health, Islamic affairs, family affairs, and the preparation of recommendations. According to Emirates News Agency, the council reached a consensus on keeping the existing committees, emphasizing the importance of their roles in addressing various administrative and societal issues. Each committee retains its previous members and leadership, with specific responsibilities assigned to ensure effective governance and community engagement. The Legislative and Legal Affairs, Appeals, Suggestions and Complaints Committee is chaired by Mohammed Ali Jaber Al Hammadi, with Hamad Abdul Wahab Al Qawadi serving as the rapporteur. This committee handles all legal and legislative concerns, appeals, as well as public suggestions and complaints. Rashid Abdullah bin Huwaiden leads the Financial, Economic, and Industrial Affairs Committee, with Fatima Khalifa Al Muqrab as rapporteur. Their focus is on bolstering Sharjah's economic development and overseeing financial policies. The Education, Youth, Culture, and Media Affairs Committee, under the chairmanship of Sheikha Ali Al Naqbi and rapporteur Dr. Ahmed Saleh Al Naqbi, aims to enhance educational programs and cultural initiatives, fostering youth engagement across the emirate. Health, Labour, and Social Affairs are overseen by Mohammed Saleh Al Ali with Dr. Hind Saleh Al Hajri as the rapporteur, focusing on public health policies, labor laws, and social welfare programs. Jamila Mohammed Al Fandi Al Shamsi chairs the Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Municipalities, Security Affairs, and Public Facilities Committee, which deals with religious matters, municipal management, and public safety. The Family Committee, led by Saeed Matar bin Hamed Al Tunaiji, focuses on policies and programs benefiting family welfare and social cohesion within the community. Finally, the Recommendations Preparation Committee, chaired by Jassim Mohammed Al Hanawi Al Naqbi, is tasked with drafting and preparing legislative recommendations for council consideration. The council also marked a significant milestone by electing Dr. Ruqayya Rashid Al Zaabi as one of its observers, making her the first woman to hold this position since the establishment of the council. This move underscores the council's commitment to enhancing women's participation in the legislative process. The next session of the council is scheduled for October 24, where members will deliberate on proposed legislation related to the activities of the Sharjah Digital Department.
