AMMAN: Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, welcomed his Iranian counterpart, Dr. Abbas Araghchi, to discuss critical regional stability efforts amid escalating tensions. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the meeting, held as part of Araghchi's regional tour, focused on bilateral relations and collaborative efforts to halt the precarious escalation threatening the region. Both parties emphasized the urgency of preventing a comprehensive regional war, highlighting the detrimental effects it would have on both regional and international security and peace. Safadi articulated that the cessation of Israeli actions in Gaza and Lebanon, along with the reduction of hostilities in the occupied West Bank and against sacred Islamic and Christian sites, should be the preliminary steps towards de-escalation and restoring calm in the area. He firmly stated that Jordan would maintain its territorial integrity and security, asserting, "Jordan will not be a battle field for anyone and will not allow any party to violate its sovereignty and airspace and threaten its citizens' security." The discussions also touched upon the broader Middle East crisis, with Safadi advocating for the rights of the Palestinian people to freedom and statehood as per the borders of June 4, 1967, with Jerusalem as its capital. He reaffirmed that a two-state solution remains the sole pathway to achieving a just and comprehensive peace that ensures security for all involved.
