ABU DHABI: Global technology companies have expressed high praise for the United Arab Emirates' (UAE) strategic initiatives in adopting and implementing artificial intelligence (AI) across various sectors, positioning the country as a leading model for technological integration in both public and private sectors. These initiatives are recognized for their significant contributions to sustainable development and innovation. According to Emirates News Agency, Adrian Beckering, Regional Director of Redhat Company in the Middle East and North Africa, highlighted the UAE's critical role in embracing AI technologies at governmental and institutional levels. Beckering commended the UAE leadership for laying a solid foundation that boosts the application of AI within the public sector, describing these efforts as a transformative leap in the nation's digital journey. Beckering detailed, "At Red Hat, we collaborate extensively with government bodies in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and the federal level to forge AI-based techno logy solutions. Our partnerships across various ministries and departments are aimed at improving service quality and expediting public access to these services." He also emphasized the development of local talent, noting Red Hat's initiatives to equip Emirati youth with necessary skills and expertise through specialized academic programs. These programs are designed to empower them to execute AI plans and develop advanced solutions across different sectors. Beckering further noted the significant opportunities available for both global and local companies in the expanding UAE market. He reaffirmed Red Hat's commitment to sustainability, citing collaborations on AI projects to enhance traffic management and reduce carbon emissions, and exploring smart solutions in city and building management. Fadi Abou Shamat, Senior Director and Head of Mobile eXperience division at Samsung Gulf Electronics, also praised the UAE's AI and technology strategy alignment with Samsung's global plans. "The presence of a dedica ted ministry for artificial intelligence in the UAE provides a unique opportunity for us to broaden AI applications," he said. Shamat acknowledged the substantial support from the UAE in expanding Samsung's technological projects, including the Galaxy AI Pioneer initiative aimed at training new generations and offering AI-based smart solutions. He highlighted Samsung's efforts in environmental sustainability, such as reducing plastic use and incorporating recycled materials in products. Shamat added that Samsung is working closely with the UAE government to support the Arabic language in AI technologies, proudly noting the launch of Arabic language support in AI-powered devices in June 2024. He closed by thanking the UAE for its ongoing support and expressed optimism for future innovations and collaborations in AI.
