Dubai Marathon 2025: Premiere Running Event Preps for Record-Breaking Race

DUBAI: With the 24th Dubai Marathon fast approaching, organizers are in full swing ensuring a flawless event set for January 12, 2025, with support from the Dubai Sports Council and various governmental bodies. According to Emirates News Agency, the marathon, known for its fast courses, will include three race distances: 4km, 10km, and the traditional full marathon at 42.195km. Registration for the event has been open for several months, indicating strong early interest from runners globally. Race Director Peter Connerton highlighted the enthusiasm and advanced preparations, "With around 12 weeks to go to the race day itself, our focus is on delivering a race and infrastructure that will appeal to elite runners and amateur competitors alike." The event will see participants running popular routes along Jumeirah Beach Road, Al Sufouh, and Umm Suqeim Road. This setup not only challenges seasoned marathoners but also attracts newcomers aiming for personal bests or records. Dubai Sports Council Secretary-Genera l Saeed Hareb emphasized the global appeal of the marathon, "As we plan the next edition of the Dubai Marathon, our hope is to welcome even more elite runners and international visitors." The Dubai Marathon has been a notable platform for new talent in the athletics scene. Earlier this year, Ethiopian runner Tigist Ketema set a record for the fastest women's debut marathon time at this event, a precursor to her victory at the Berlin Marathon. Male counterpart, teenager Addisu Gobena, also made an impressive debut, winning the men's race. The 2025 edition continues to draw support from major sponsors and local authorities, including adidas, the Channel 4 Radio Network, ITP Media Group, Dubai Duty Free, Bisleri Water, Dubai RTA, Dubai Police, and Dubai Municipality, ensuring a well-coordinated event covering a significant part of the city.
