AMMAN: His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan emphasized the urgent need for de-escalation in the region during a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Wednesday. The meeting, which also saw the presence of Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, focused on halting the violence and conflict expansion in areas such as Gaza and Lebanon as a crucial step towards achieving wider regional stability. According to Jordan News Agency, King Abdullah II warned of the consequences of ongoing conflicts and the potential hostage situation of the region to continuous violence. He stressed the importance of stopping the Israeli military actions in Gaza and Lebanon as initial measures toward a broader peace and stability. His Majesty reiterated Jordan's stance of not becoming a battleground for regional conflicts and expressed the country's commitment to work with partner states to restore stability and address the Palestinian issue politically. The meeting also included discussions on humanitarian effor ts, where King Abdullah II highlighted the necessity of enhancing the humanitarian response in Gaza. The aim is to ensure the continued flow of aid to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in the area. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, along with Director of the Office of His Majesty, Alaa Batayneh, were also present at this significant meeting. This meeting is part of Foreign Minister Araghchi's regional tour aimed at discussing key issues with neighboring states.
