BEIRUT: The Arab League has underscored that the Lebanese government is the sole entity authorized to negotiate on behalf of Lebanon for an immediate ceasefire, emphasizing the need to fully implement United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701. According to Emirates News Agency, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary-General of the Arab League, expressed his support for the Lebanese Caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati's position on this matter. He reiterated the Arab League's clear stance, as reflected in its resolutions, which affirm Lebanon's complete sovereignty in making critical national decisions. Aboul Gheit stated there is no room for external parties to impose control, exert pressure, or undermine Lebanese sovereignty. Aboul Gheit emphasized the Arab League's full support for Lebanon, highlighting the necessity of tangible support for its sovereignty. He stressed that given Lebanon's current challenges, expressions of sympathy are not enough. Instead, concrete actions are required to alleviate th e suffering of the Lebanese people, which should not be used for political advantage.
