Israel’s Blockade of Northern Gaza Threatens Lives, UN Warns

GAZA CITY: The United Nations has issued a stark warning regarding the escalating humanitarian crisis in northern Gaza, where a stringent blockade imposed by Israeli forces is threatening lives. The ongoing siege, which has intensified in recent weeks, has left two of the three remaining hospitals in the region severely impacted by direct attacks amid increasing hostilities. According to Jordan News Agency, Muhannad Hadi, the Humanitarian Coordinator for the occupied Palestinian territory, emphasized that Al-Awda and Indonesian hospitals were directly hit, exacerbating the already dire situation. The escalating conflict has put immense pressure on these medical facilities, as Israeli forces have reportedly intensified efforts to evacuate them. However, the patients, many of whom are critically ill, have no alternative options for care. Hadi highlighted the severe shortages faced by Adwan Hospital, which is responsible for treating two-thirds of the patients in the area. The hospital is grappling with a crit ical lack of beds, medicines, medical supplies, and fuel. The UN's recent urgent request for access to northern Gaza, aimed at assisting in the rescue of dozens of individuals trapped under rubble, has reportedly gone unanswered, further deepening the humanitarian crisis.
