ABU DHABI: ADNOC has initiated a comprehensive program through the ADNOC Legal Development Institute (ALDI) to develop and empower Emirati legal talent, offering world-class qualifications and work experience. This initiative aligns with ADNOC's broader strategy to foster a knowledge-based economy in the UAE and nurture top UAE National talent through various educational initiatives. According to Emirates News Agency, the program, which began in January 2024, addresses the growing need for highly qualified legal professionals as the UAE solidifies its status as a global business hub. ALDI provides a comprehensive legal education program designed to meet international standards. Marwan Naim Nijmeh, ADNOC's Chief Legal Officer, emphasized the initiative's alignment with the vision of UAE leadership, stating that ADNOC prioritizes the development of its people as its most valuable asset. The program welcomes recent graduates and professionals, offering opportunities to pursue prestigious certifications such as the UK Solicitors Qualifying Examination and the New York Bar Exam. Currently, eight UAE Nationals are enrolled, with five students working towards their qualifications at the Abu Dhabi Global Market Academy. The curriculum covers foundational UAE and English law and emphasizes practical skills such as contract drafting and negotiation. Participants gain international exposure and return to ADNOC as fully qualified legal counsel, with the first cohort expected to rejoin the company by 2027. Beyond strengthening ADNOC's internal legal expertise, ALDI contributes to the UAE's broader legal landscape by nurturing a new generation of skilled Emirati lawyers, thus reducing reliance on foreign professionals.
