DUBAI: Mohammed Bin Rashid Aerospace Hub (MBRAH) has formalized an agreement with International Energy Resources (IER) to establish a cutting-edge Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) and engine test cell facility at Dubai South, aiming to bolster the aviation sector's growth in the region. According to Emirates News Agency, the new facility will span 880,000 square feet, offering a comprehensive suite of services including the manufacturing, repair, and overhaul of gas turbine engine components, alongside performance testing. A distinctive feature of the facility will be its unique engine test cell, designed to test both Aero Engines and Aero-Derivative Industrial Engines, initially accommodating up to 50 engines annually. The facility's construction is divided into two phases, with completion projected for the fourth quarter of 2026 and the third quarter of 2027. Tahnoon Saif, CEO of Mohammed Bin Rashid Aerospace Hub, emphasized the significance of the agreement with IER, highlighting its role in enhan cing MBRAH's portfolio and reinforcing Dubai's standing in the global aviation landscape. Saif noted that the new MRO facility underscores MBRAH's dedication to meeting the industry's evolving needs and fostering growth and innovation. Larry J. Howie, Chairman and CEO of IER MRO Industries DWC LLC, expressed enthusiasm over the collaboration with MBRAH, citing the opportunity to expand their long-standing presence in Dubai. He stated that the partnership will enhance IER's capabilities to deliver superior maintenance and repair solutions, aligning with high standards of quality and efficiency. MBRAH, situated within Dubai South, provides a strategic free-zone destination with high-level connectivity for global aerospace entities, including airlines, private jet companies, and MROs. The hub is integral to Dubai South's development, housing maintenance centers, and educational campuses, and is pivotal to Dubai's ambition to become a premier aviation hub.
