DUBAI: In a recent address, Sarah bint Yousef Al Amiri, UAE's Minister of Education, articulated the ongoing transformation within the nation's educational system, underscoring the focus on higher-order skills and values as key drivers of comprehensive development. According to Emirates News Agency, Al Amiri detailed this strategic shift during a session with participants of the 2nd Global Government Leaders Programme (GGLP) held at the Zayed Education Complex - Warqa. This session is part of a broader series of field visits designed to expose global leaders to the UAE's best practices across various strategic sectors. Al Amiri emphasized the transition from merely ensuring access to quality education towards equipping students with the skills necessary for thriving in a future-oriented, high-tech economy. Minister Al Amiri highlighted the Ministry's initiatives aimed at refining assessment methods to evaluate not only knowledge but also essential skills required for the future workforce. She pointed out th e strategic integration of technology in education, empowering students with critical thinking abilities to responsibly navigate the digital landscape. Furthermore, the curriculum is being enriched with Emirati values and culture, promoting cooperation and acceptance, alongside prioritizing continuous professional development for educators through tailored training programs and new diplomas. The Ministry of Education is actively aligning its framework with the UAE's industry needs, collaborating with the Ministry of Economy and higher education institutions to tailor curricula that meet sector-specific skill requirements. This includes harmonizing vocational training with industry credentials, fostering practical skills that contribute to national economic growth. The Global Government Leaders Programme, a collaborative initiative by the Government Experience Exchange Office and the Mohammed bin Rashid Centre for Leadership Development, aims to empower government leaders from 31 countries. Participants, inc luding representatives from Azerbaijan, Mongolia, Iraq, and others, benefit from the UAE's successful government performance models, enhancing their institutions' future effectiveness.
