SHARJAH: The 'My Health' conference, now in its 10th edition, has brought together more than 36 experts in physical and mental health, sports, and nutrition to discuss the promotion of physical activity and healthy nutrition as fundamental components of sustainable health. Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, the conference, organized by the Health Promotion Department at the Supreme Council for Family Affairs (SCFA) in partnership with the University of Sharjah, is being held over two days under the theme 'Health and Wellbeing.' According to Emirates News Agency, the opening ceremony featured prominent figures such as Sheikh Mohammed bin Humaid Al Qasimi, Sheikh Salem bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Iman Rashid Saif, and Dr. Ibtihal Fadhil. The event underscored the importance of maintaining good physical and mental health through balanced lifestyles, which include sufficient sleep, regular physical activity, and a diet centered on healthy, home-cooked meals. Speakers cautioned again st the consumption of ready-made foods, particularly among children, and advocated for promoting physical activity as a family lifestyle. Iman Rashid Saif emphasized that the conference aligns with the vision of local leadership, focusing on human development as a pillar of progress. She noted that the conference aims to shape health policies and achieve sustainable outcomes that improve quality of life. The discussions at the event address a range of issues, including the impact of the digital world on mental health and the creation of health-promoting environments. Dr. Ibtihal Fadhil praised the support of Sheikha Jawaher for public health initiatives and the prevention of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). She highlighted the efforts of the Regional NCD Alliance in promoting community involvement in health programs across 22 countries. During a panel discussion titled 'From Childhood to Wellbeing: The Impact of Fast Food Culture and Secrets to Longevity,' Dr. Ahmed Mohammad Abdul Malik and Prof. Hashem A dnan Al Kilani discussed the importance of sleep, physical activity, and nutrition. They highlighted the risks associated with fast food consumption and stressed the need for healthy diets and regular physical activity. The event concluded with a ceremony honoring the conference's partners and sponsors, led by Sheikh Mohammed bin Humaid Al Qasimi and Iman Rashid Saif.
