GAZA CITY: The Palestinian Health Minister, Majid Abu Ramadan, has raised alarm over the inability of children in the Gaza Strip to receive their second dose of the polio vaccine due to ongoing Israeli military actions. The minister described the situation as a significant public health risk, as immunization efforts are hindered by the conflict. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Abu Ramadan, in a statement on Wednesday, pointed out the severe challenges faced by both children and healthcare workers in accessing vaccination centers amid the escalating violence. The minister reiterated the importance of the second dose of the polio vaccine in ensuring complete immunity and preventing potential outbreaks of the disease. In response to the crisis, the Ministry of Health has issued urgent appeals to international health organizations. These appeals call for increased pressure on Israeli authorities to halt their military activities in Gaza and allow safe passage for families and medical personnel to c ontinue vaccination efforts. The ministry emphasized the immediate need for international intervention to address the growing health risks posed to the population, particularly the children.
