Al Sila Marine Festival Set to Illuminate Al Dhafra Region on December 4.

Al Dhafra: The 4th edition of the Al Sila Marine Festival is scheduled to unfold from December 4 to December 8, 2024, at Al Sila Beach in the Al Dhafra Region, Abu Dhabi. According to Emirates News Agency, the festival is being held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, and is organized by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority and the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club. Spanning five days, the festival will host an impressive lineup of 57 marine, sporting, and beach competitions, with prize money surpassing AED4 million. Among the competitions are the Al Sila 43-ft Dhow Race, the Barakah Traditional Sailboat Race, the Al Sila Sheri Fishing contest, as well as championships in falconry, cycling races, running events, beach volleyball, and beach football. The event will also include heritage competitions, traditional games, and a wide array of community and entertainment activities catering to all age groups. A traditional market will feature vari ous stalls operated by local producing families and emerging projects, offering heritage products and traditional dishes. Additionally, stands representing event sponsors and participating organizations will be present, alongside a Noukhada Majlis (Captain's Majlis), folk art performances in the events arena, and numerous other activities. The festival aims to celebrate the UAE's rich heritage, highlighting the importance of maritime and traditional sports within the community. It also seeks to showcase the coastal cities and islands of the UAE, promoting tourism and economic development in the Al Dhafra Region.
