ATLANTA: Jimmy Carter, the 39th president of the United States and a Nobel Peace Prize recipient, has died at the age of 100. The Carter Centre, a nonprofit organization founded by the former president, announced his passing at his home in Georgia on Sunday. According to Emirates News Agency, the Carter Centre confirmed that public observances to honor Carter's life and legacy will take place in both Atlanta and Washington. These events are set to be followed by a private interment in Plains, Georgia, Carter's hometown. Details of the state funeral arrangements are still being finalized. Carter's presidency, which spanned from 1977 to 1981, was marked by efforts towards peaceful resolutions of international conflicts, the advancement of democracy and human rights, and the promotion of economic and social development. In recognition of these contributions, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002.
