Sharjah Ruler Chairs University of Al Dhaid’s Board of Trustees Meeting

Sharjah: His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, President of the University of Al Dhaid, chaired the Board of Trustees meeting on Monday. H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan emphasized the progress of the university in achieving its goals, particularly in agricultural and veterinary domains, underscoring the quality of its academic programs and the excellence of its students in science and research.

According to Emirates News Agency, H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan highlighted that the universities in Sharjah have capitalized on specialized programs from global institutions to enhance academic quality. This strategy has enabled Sharjah's universities to improve programs and bolster scientific research, contributing to higher education outcomes.

H.H. the Ruler of Sharjah underscored the continuous enhancement of education and the pursuit of optimal academic practices for superior outcomes. The universities in Sharjah have gained recognition for the quality of their scientific research, acknowledged by international organizations. These institutions significantly contribute to training skilled nationals, supporting key sectors and future development plans.

During the meeting, the Board addressed several agenda items, focusing on the university's administrative and educational development plans. The Board reviewed performance reports from various committees to enhance institutional efficiency and support future plans. Recent achievements include developing a mobile veterinary clinic and a smart farm, which align with the university's goals to support the agricultural and veterinary sectors.

The Board also discussed cooperation with prestigious universities to offer dual programs and summer training opportunities for students, such as a program for students from the College of Agriculture at the Royal University of Agriculture in the UK in summer 2026.

Dr Aisha Ahmed Bushlaibi, Chancellor of the University of Al Dhaid, presented the university's key achievements, including the accreditation of the Skills Development Centre in the UK. The Board reviewed reports from Finance, Academic, Internal Audit, and Compliance Committees, as well as the Financial Resources Development Committee, assessing their progress over the past period.

On the sidelines, His Highness attended a student exhibition showcasing research projects in sustainability, food security, and veterinary health. The projects featured modern technologies and artificial intelligence in agriculture. Sheikh Dr Sultan also received briefings on initiatives in veterinary medicine and public health and viewed a presentation on modern teaching tools for students.

The exhibition demonstrated sustainable agricultural systems and solutions for crop damage, supporting the UAE's sustainability goals. The Ruler was briefed on the mobile veterinary clinic, which enhances students' clinical awareness and ethical practices in the veterinary field.

H.H. Sheikh Dr Sultan reviewed the university's expansion projects, including a 1,000-seat theater and the university mosque, which will accommodate worshippers with modern facilities. The construction of agricultural laboratories and other facilities aims to improve students' skills in sustainable agriculture and food security.

The Ruler of Sharjah visited the Sharjah Agricultural and Livestock Production Foundation's 'EKTIFA' exhibition, showcasing organic products and revealing new products for local markets. The initiative supports local food production and aims for food self-sufficiency by introducing around 140 organic food products to the UAE market over the next three years.

H.H. Sheikh Dr Sultan was accompanied by several dignitaries, including Dr Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, and other notable officials from various departments and educational institutions.
