Nakuru: A devastating dormitory fire at Utumishi Girls Academy in Kenya's central region of Nakuru has resulted in the tragic deaths of at least 10 students. The fire broke out around 1 am local time (2200 GMT), prompting an urgent response from emergency rescue teams.
According to Emirates News Agency, the local radio station Capital FM reported the incident, citing information from senior police officials. Samuel Ndanyi, the Regional Police Commander, indicated that emergency teams were meticulously searching the dormitory for any remaining students, ensuring that all were accounted for and rescue efforts were thorough.
Firefighters, along with police officers, worked tirelessly to control the blaze and safely evacuate other students from the premises. The joint efforts were aimed at minimizing further casualties and ensuring the safety of the remaining students at the academy.
