US F-35 Crashes at Military Base in California, Pilot Safe

Dubai: A fighter jet crashed and erupted into flames at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Miramar in California on Friday, according to a spokesman for MCAS Miramar. "The F-35 assigned to the 3rd Marine Aircraft Group 11 crashed at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar around 10 am PT," said Spokesman Lt. Blake Starbuck in a statement. The crash sparked a fire in a field on the base, he said, adding that the pilot ejected and has been recovered.

According to Emirates News Agency, the incident involved an F-35 fighter jet that was part of the 3rd Marine Aircraft Group 11. The crash occurred mid-morning, leading to a fire on the base's field. The pilot managed to eject safely from the aircraft and has been successfully recovered. The authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.
