Sharjah: The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has taken significant steps to bolster economic and trade relations with the Dominican Republic and India. The Chamber aims to foster strategic partnerships and enhance bilateral trade with these nations, focusing on creating new investment opportunities.
According to Emirates News Agency, Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI, hosted a meeting with Renso Herrera Franco, Ambassador of the Dominican Republic to the UAE. The discussion centered on strengthening economic cooperation, emphasizing the importance of reciprocal trade and investment delegation visits to facilitate direct business engagements. Al Owais highlighted the Dominican Republic's strategic position as a gateway to Latin American and Caribbean markets, offering substantial opportunities for Sharjah's business community.
The Dominican delegation expressed interest in enhancing cooperation with the Sharjah Chamber, praising the emirate's economic progress and reaffirming their commitment to boosting bilateral trade. Both parties emphasized the need for coordination between the Sharjah Chamber and the Dominican Embassy to stimulate private sector investment and explore joint business forums.
In a separate meeting, the Sharjah Chamber explored economic cooperation with India, building on the robust UAE-India strategic partnership. Al Owais met with Satish Kumar Sivan, Consul General of India in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, to discuss deepening economic ties and identifying new collaboration avenues. The discussions underscored the Chamber's commitment to supporting Indian businesses and positioning Sharjah as a premier destination for investment.
Al Owais commended the Indian Consul General's efforts in advancing trade relations and facilitating new business opportunities. He reiterated the goal of increasing bilateral trade to US$100 billion, highlighting the significant growth in the UAE's non-oil exports to India.
The Indian delegation acknowledged the Sharjah Chamber's support and initiatives that have fostered a conducive business environment for Indian investors. The meeting concluded with Al Owais presenting a commemorative shield to the Indian Consul General, recognizing his contributions to enhancing economic and trade relations during his tenure.
