ADNOC, XRG, Masdar Forge Strategic Alliances with German Companies for Energy and Technology Projects

Abu dhabi: ADNOC, XRG, and Masdar have announced new agreements with prominent German companies to strengthen the strategic partnership between the UAE and Germany across energy, industry, and advanced technology sectors. These agreements aim to facilitate over £5 billion in investments and enhance cooperation by leveraging the UAE's energy expertise and capital alongside Germany's industrial and technological strengths.

According to Emirates News Agency, the agreements were signed during the state visit of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Germany. This development follows the announcement of £40 billion in intended long-term investments in Germany. The deals involve collaborations with companies like RWE, Securing Energy for Europe (SEFE), MB Energy, Covestro, Siemens Energy, Siemens Industrial, and Bosch Middle East, focusing on liquefied natural gas (LNG), renewable energy, advanced materials, and technology.

Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, ADNOC Managing Director and Group CEO, Executive Chairman of XRG, and Chairman of Masdar, highlighted the longstanding partnership between the UAE and Germany. He stated that the recent investments and agreements are steps toward greater cooperation, creating new opportunities for both countries.

The agreements coincide with the launch of the UAE-Germany Investment Council, which aims to identify commercially viable opportunities, remove investment barriers, and accelerate growth in priority sectors.

ADNOC and RWE Supply and Trading GmbH have signed a Letter of Intent to pursue up to two long-term LNG sales and purchase agreements, building on a Strategic Collaboration Agreement from February 2026. This collaboration will focus on delivering LNG to Germany, Europe, and Asia, with supply expected to commence in the early 2030s.

TA'ZIZ and Covestro have signed a Letter of Intent to further their joint feasibility study on a methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) value chain in Ruwais. Depending on the study's outcome, a decision on the next phase is anticipated in the coming months, potentially leading to production start-up in the early 2030s.

Additionally, ADNOC, XRG, and SEFE have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore strategic opportunities across the natural gas and LNG value chains. This agreement aims to support long-term energy security and market development in Europe.

Covestro, Fertiglobe, and MB Energy have signed an MoU to explore collaboration in developing low-carbon ammonia supply chains into Germany.

In the renewables sector, Masdar and RWE have signed an MoU to consider joint participation in future German offshore wind auctions. Masdar has also partnered with Luxcara through an MoU to explore joint investments in offshore wind and battery storage projects in Germany and Europe.

ADNOC has signed Strategic Collaboration Agreements with Bosch Middle East, Siemens Energy, and Siemens Industrial to explore collaboration on advanced technology and artificial intelligence.

These agreements build on over £20 billion already invested by ADNOC, XRG, and Masdar in Germany's energy and industrial sectors, including XRG's significant investment in Covestro and Masdar's investment in the Baltic Eagle offshore wind farm. ADNOC also maintains 1.6 million tonnes per annum of long-term LNG supply agreements to the German market, sufficient to power over 3.5 million German households.
