Abu Dhabi:Rubu' Qarn for Creating Future Leaders and Innovators has initiated the 2026 Visual and Fine Arts Forum. This event is designed for individuals aged six to 31, offering them a creative journey that includes learning, experimentation, production, and exhibition.
According to Emirates News Agency, Running until November 8th, the forum seeks to empower participants to rejuvenate Emirati heritage by transforming it into vibrant stories through contemporary art. The theme for this year's forum is 'Sarood,' which is inspired by an authentic element of Emirati heritage that symbolizes gathering, togetherness, storytelling, and stronger community connections.
Participants in the forum will reinterpret this heritage element through contemporary artworks, documenting their creative journey from workshops and artistic experiments to a final exhibition. This exhibition will present Emirati heritage through a visual language that reflects the spirit of the times.
The forum also provides an opportunity for participants to explore the relationship between cultural identity and creative expression through specialized workshops conducted by Emirati artists. The artistic program commenced with Printmaking Techniques led by artist Khalid Al Banna, who introduced participants to fabric-printing techniques featuring patterns and colors inspired by geometric forms and botanical motifs from Emirati heritage.
Artist Doha Al Halami is leading the Mural Painting program, where participants will create a mural inspired by Emirati heritage and storytelling traditions. Additionally, artists Aisha Al Kaabi and Fatima Al Kaabi are heading the 'Open Tables, Open Hearts' experience, which explores family bonds by reimagining the Sarood with various materials and creating products that integrate the spirit of the artwork into everyday life.
These workshops guide participants from learning artistic techniques to applying them in works that reflect their individual perspectives. They also focus on developing skills in composition, design, and handling materials and tools. Furthermore, the forum promotes collaboration and teamwork by encouraging the exchange of ideas and exploring artistic practices that merge traditional handicrafts with contemporary approaches, all within an environment that fosters initiative and self-expression.
