Victory Team Aims for Pole Position at Shanghai Grand Prix

Shanghai:Victory Team is set to compete for pole position at the Shanghai Grand Prix, a significant event in the UIM F1H2O World Championship, during the official qualifying session and Sprint races on Sunday, which offer additional championship points.

According to Emirates News Agency, the competition will be intense, especially among UAE teams, with Team Abu Dhabi and Sharjah Team participating alongside a global lineup. The Shanghai Grand Prix represents the third round of the 2026 season, and the race for the world championship remains open.

Victory Team's Shaun Torrente, driving boat No. 1, currently leads the Drivers' Championship standings with 40 points. Victory Team is in second place in the Teams' Championship with 60 points, trailing Team Abu Dhabi by just one point. Torrente ascended to the top of the standings following his victory at the Kyrgyzstan Grand Prix, which allowed him to rebound from a challenging race in Cagliari, where he had to retire after his boat flipped.

Torrente's position was further strengthened by a setback faced by Sharjah Team's Stefan Arand, who, despite winning the season's opening round, was forced to retire from the Kyrgyzstan race due to engine issues. Arand arrives in Shanghai with 36 points, remaining a strong contender in the championship.
