UAE and Kazakhstan Strengthen Ties Through Energy and Infrastructure Initiatives

Almaty:Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure and Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs to Kazakhstan, led a UAE delegation to Kazakhstan, focusing on enhancing cooperation in key sectors. His visit included stops in Almaty and Astana, where he explored opportunities to bolster ties between the two nations.

According to Emirates News Agency, Al Mazrouei participated in the 30th Kazakhstan International Oil and Gas Exhibition and Conference (KIOGE 2026) in Almaty, featuring over 500 companies from 30 countries. The event highlighted advancements in the oil and gas industry, showcasing technologies and solutions in exploration, extraction, and logistics.

During the conference, Al Mazrouei engaged in a roundtable session to discuss international cooperation in the energy sector. He emphasized the need for adapting to regional developments and ensuring the sustainability and security of energy supplies. On the sidelines, he met with Yerlan Akbarov, Vice Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan, to discuss strengthening energy connectivity and explore further cooperation.

In Astana, a trilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the UAE, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan to collaborate on the Central Asia-South Asia railway project. The agreement aims to enhance regional connectivity and trade, with a focus on transport infrastructure development.

Al Mazrouei also attended a roundtable on investment opportunities hosted by the Astana International Financial Centre. This meeting brought together representatives from various sectors to discuss expanding mutual investments and exploring new cooperation avenues.

Additionally, Al Mazrouei was present at the inauguration of the Kazakhstan National AI Research University, marking a significant step in educational and technological collaboration between the UAE and Kazakhstan.

The visit concluded with a meeting with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, where Al Mazrouei conveyed greetings from UAE leaders. Discussions centered on strengthening bilateral relations, with a focus on infrastructure, transport, and technological cooperation. Both sides committed to advancing strategic projects, emphasizing mutual investments and shared objectives for sustainable development.
