UAE Joins OIC States Broadcasting Union’s Executive Council

Abu Dhabi:The United Arab Emirates has been selected as a member of the Executive Council of the OIC States Broadcasting Union (OSBU) for the coming term, highlighting its significant role in the media sector and its efforts to foster cooperation among media institutions. This inclusion aims to enhance the regional and international presence of Arab and Islamic media.

According to Emirates News Agency, the decision was made during a remote meeting of the OSBU's General Assembly. The UAE's selection is seen as recognition of its expertise in media development and the leadership's dedication to building an advanced media sector that invests in human capital, knowledge, and modern technologies, while fostering dialogue and understanding among diverse populations.

Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi, Secretary-General of the National Media Authority, expressed pride in the UAE's selection. He emphasized the country's commitment to transforming this cooperation into practical opportunities for exchanging expertise, developing content, and enhancing the skills of media professionals. Al Shehhi noted the importance of leveraging UAE's expertise and partnerships to support professional and responsible media that accurately reflects societies and cultures, thereby strengthening their international presence and influence.

He further stated that building partnerships with regional and international organizations is crucial for shaping media cooperation priorities and establishing institutions that can adapt to technological and professional advancements. These partnerships aim to amplify the global presence and influence of the UAE's media, highlight cultural issues, and reinforce the media's role as a partner in development and a catalyst for dialogue and international understanding.
