Sharjah:His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has approved a budget of AED950,000 for the 20th edition of the UAE Children's Theatre Festival, set to take place in December. The Theatre Association will organize the event in collaboration with the Department of Culture.
According to Emirates News Agency, this support reflects Sheikh Sultan's commitment to children as a vital part of society and his dedication to enhancing their theatrical skills to meet international standards. The festival aims to foster children's talents within sustainable cultural activities.
Abdullah Al Owais, Chairman of the Department of Culture, emphasized that the Ruler of Sharjah's support plays a crucial role in the advancement and mastery of children through theatre and festivals. He highlighted the importance of such theatre in shaping the younger generation and creating a conscious society capable of addressing life's challenges.
Al Owais also mentioned that the festival seeks to promote children's theatre in the UAE, motivate community groups to produce theatrical works for children, and reinforce the role of children's theatre in teaching moral values, customs, traditions, and patriotism, while providing an enjoyable and educational environment.
Ismail Abdullah, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Theatrical Association, expressed gratitude to Sheikh Sultan for his generous support. He noted that this support serves as a major incentive for theatre practitioners and contributes to a rewarding atmosphere for theatre enthusiasts. The administration will collaborate with the Department of Culture and relevant organizations to ensure the festival's success in December, aiming to deliver an outstanding children's theatre festival in the UAE.
