Greek Health Minister Commends UAE’s Healthcare Advancements

Abu Dhabi:Greek Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis has commended the United Arab Emirates for its advancements in the healthcare sector, highlighting the UAE's innovative use of technology to improve healthcare services and quality of life.

According to Emirates News Agency, Georgiadis praised the UAE's commitment to sharing its healthcare expertise internationally and strengthening cooperation with other countries. He spoke at the Abu Dhabi Future Health Summit 2026, noting that his visit to Abu Dhabi three years ago was pivotal in advancing Greece's digital healthcare transformation.

Georgiadis explained that Greece has developed an integrated digital medical records system, allowing approximately 11 million people to access their health data through the "My Health" application. This system includes digital access to medical records, test results, and diagnostic images such as MRI scans, available in real time.

He highlighted Greece's achievements in fully digitizing prescriptions, which facilitates the collection of comprehensive health data, enhancing the country's ability to analyze health indicators and inform resource allocation and service development.

Additionally, in cooperation with the World Health Organisation, Greece has launched the "Health-iQ" platform. This initiative assesses healthcare capabilities across municipalities by linking health data with medical resources, helping to identify healthcare needs, improve planning, and allocate resources effectively.

Georgiadis also pointed out the implementation of a national diagnostic screening program aimed at early detection of various diseases. This program, covering around 6.8 million people, supports the creation of a health database to guide preventive interventions.
