FTA Urges Compliance with e-Invoicing Deadlines to Avoid Penalties

Dubai:The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) has called on individuals and entities subject to the e-Invoicing System to adhere to the legal requirements and deadlines for its phased implementation. This system is designed to simplify, standardize, and automate invoicing processes, providing numerous benefits to stakeholders.

According to Wam, the FTA emphasized that entities with annual revenues of AED50 million or more must appoint an Accredited Service Provider by 30th October 2026 and implement the e-Invoicing System by 1st January 2027. For those with revenues below AED50 million, the deadlines are 31st March 2027 for appointing a provider and 1st July 2027 for full implementation.

The FTA highlighted the importance of early preparation to avoid administrative penalties for non-compliance. These penalties include a monthly AED5,000 fine for delays in implementing the system or failing to appoint a provider within the prescribed timeframes. The penalties aim to ensure compliance and support the UAE's digital transformation efforts.

The FTA confirmed that the system's readiness was tested in a pilot phase, assessing integration efficiency, user experience, and readiness of parties involved. The FTA is committed to continuous communication with stakeholders and has adopted flexible mechanisms to support business continuity.

In September 2026, a joint meeting in Dubai brought together Accredited e-Invoicing Service Providers, companies, and FTA officials to discuss the system's implementation. The event provided guidance and information on the legal framework and the process for joining the system, emphasizing the importance of compliance through secure digital mechanisms.

The FTA continues to organize awareness events across the UAE, offering information on implementation requirements and procedures. Interested parties are urged to review the relevant materials available on the FTA's website.
