Abdullah Bin Zayed, UK Secretary of State Discuss Regional Security Concerns

Abu dhabi: H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, received Yvette Cooper, UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs. During their meeting, they addressed recent regional developments, focusing on unprovoked Iranian missile attacks targeting the United Arab Emirates and other nations, and the implications for regional and international security, international navigation safety, energy supplies, and the global economy.

According to Emirates News Agency, Yvette Cooper expressed the UK's solidarity with the UAE, underscoring the need to protect its sovereignty and ensure the security of its citizens, residents, and visitors. H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan appreciated Cooper's visit, highlighting the strong relations between the two countries and the UK's support following the Iranian aggression. He also reassured the safety of all residents and visitors in the UAE.

Cooper provided an overview of the latest regional developments, including the announcement by US President Donald Trump of a two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran. Both parties emphasized the importance of international cooperation to enhance security and stability and to promote sustainable peace in the region.

Additionally, discussions included topics of mutual interest related to UAE-UK relations, exploring ways to further develop these ties to benefit both nations and enhance the prosperity of their peoples. The meeting was also attended by Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Minister of State.
