BEIRUT: Lebanon's House Speaker, Nabih Berri, engaged in crucial diplomatic communications on Friday, amid ongoing challenges faced by the country. Berri received a phone call from Josep Borrell, the European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs, discussing the pressing need for communication to cease hostilities and implement UN Resolution 1701. The dialogue also touched on the urgent election of a president for the republic. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Speaker Berri expressed gratitude towards France and the European Union for organizing an international conference in Paris. This conference aims to support Lebanon both humanitarianly and politically as it confronts the aftermath of continued Israeli aggression. The conflict has led to the displacement of over 1.2 million Lebanese, exacerbating the humanitarian situation in the country. In addition to the phone call, Speaker Berri received a written letter from French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, further underscoring the i nternational attention and support directed towards Lebanon during this critical time. The ongoing communications highlight efforts to stabilize the region and address the multifaceted repercussions of the conflict.
