This joint international initiative aims to enhance national medical preparedness, advance disaster medicine education and training, and improve healthcare system resilience across the region.

According to Wam, the announcement took place during the European Disaster Medicine Forum held in San Marino, attended by 50 experts and representatives from various organizations including the European Union and the World Health Organisation. This initiative builds upon a Memorandum of Understanding signed on August 15, 2023, which established a framework for international cooperation in disaster medicine and related fields.

The programme, during its initial phase, will operate under the cooperation framework between CEMEC and JAHEZIYA, utilizing the academic and operational strengths of both institutions. Professor Roberto Mugavero, President of CEMEC, highlighted the strategic importance of the programme, emphasizing the shared vision of enhancing disaster medicine education through international collaboration and technological innovation.

He expressed his commitment to leveraging the UAE's experience in medical preparedness to build a regional and international network of collaborators. The programme will focus on areas such as civilian-military medical integration, international academic partnerships, and the incorporation of artificial intelligence and advanced simulation in emergency response systems.

The initiative outlines seven strategic areas, including strengthening national medical preparedness, promoting civilian-military integration, and ensuring financial and operational sustainability through innovative partnerships and research.
