DUBAI: Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Director of Police and Public Security in Dubai and Chairman of the UAE Police Chiefs Council, has underscored the importance of enhancing public awareness regarding security measures. During a remotely chaired meeting of the UAE Police Chiefs Council, he emphasized the need to educate the community about various criminal tactics to prevent negative trends from taking root. According to Emirates News Agency, the meeting included participation from police chiefs, senior officers, and officials from the Ministry of Interior. The Council examined several critical issues, including reports on troubling crimes and a comparative analysis of incidents from the first half of 2023-2024. They also discussed criminal activities within specific communities, highlighted in reports from 2021 to 2024. Emerging cybercrimes, such as phone scams, phishing emails, and fraudulent social media posts, were a significant focus. The Council stressed the media's crucial role in e ducating the public and promoting vigilance against these threats. In addition, the Council reviewed progress toward achieving the national agenda goals and 'We the UAE 2031' vision in the year's first half. This initiative aims for global leadership in public safety, including a 100 percent rapid response rate to emergencies within 5 minutes, ranking among the top three countries for low road fatality rates, and ensuring a 100 percent response rate to urgent security reports within 10 minutes. The Council also evaluated initiatives from the Communities Committee, efforts to create a safe school environment, and updates on the Intelligent Command and Control Centre (ICCC). Throughout the meeting, strategic decisions and recommendations were issued to address these various challenges effectively.
