DUBAI: The DMCC, a prominent free zone and Government of Dubai Authority on commodities trade and enterprise, has entered into three strategic agreements to enhance its Sustainability Hub. These collaborations with S and P Global Market Intelligence, S and P Global Sustainable1, Earthly, and Climate Essentials aim to provide hub members with advanced tools and resources to advance Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices, aligning with the United Arab Emirates' Net Zero 2050 ambitions. According to Emirates News Agency, these agreements are designed to strengthen the DMCC's Sustainability Hub as the leading ESG ecosystem in the region. The partnerships offer exclusive rates, industry insights, and value-added services, supporting members in implementing long-term emissions reductions in line with the UAE's goals, as outlined in the Federal Decree announced in August 2024. These initiatives include emission reduction targets, mandatory reporting, and fostering innovation in sustainability. The c ollaboration with S and P Global Market Intelligence and S and P Global Sustainable1 will grant members access to the S and P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), enabling companies to align their sustainability efforts with business strategies and benchmark their progress. Additionally, members will gain insights into reporting their sustainability performance according to global frameworks with the Sustainability Starter Pack. Climate Essentials will offer a platform for calculating carbon footprints, adhering to leading climate science protocols, which is particularly accessible for SMEs and entrepreneurs. Earthly will provide tailored carbon management strategies and access to verified carbon offset projects, emphasizing high-integrity nature-based solutions that contribute to carbon removal, biodiversity restoration, and community support. Feryal Ahmadi, Chief Operating Officer of DMCC, stated that the hub aims to maximize the positive impact across its community of nearly 25,000 members. By leveraging resources from S and P Global, Earthly, and Climate Essentials, the initiative seeks to keep Dubai at the forefront of climate action discussions and support the UAE's Net Zero by 2050 ambitions. Lorenzo Curci, Co-founder and CCO of Earthly, highlighted the critical role of nature-based solutions in fighting climate change, referencing the IPCC's assertion that such strategies could provide substantial emissions reductions by 2030. Daniela Menzky, Founder and CEO of Climate Essentials, expressed enthusiasm for supporting businesses in the hub, emphasizing the importance of equipping organizations with the necessary tools to meet climate goals and address climate pressures.
