EDGE Awards AED 200 Million Contract to Emirates Cable Corporation Interconnect

Abu dhabi: EDGE, a global leader in advanced technology and defence, has awarded a substantial AED 200 million contract to Emirates Cable Corporation Interconnect (ECCI). ECCI, based in Abu Dhabi, is renowned for designing and producing high-quality cable and tactical harness solutions. This contract, facilitated through EDGE's smart weapon systems producer HALCON, will see ECCI manufacture and supply advanced cable harness assemblies.

According to Emirates News Agency, the contract is pivotal for enabling power distribution, signal transmission, and system integration across a weapon's architecture, underscoring EDGE's dedication to fostering growth within the UAE's industrial sector. The signing ceremony, attended by Dr. Nasser Humaid Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of Tawazun Council, and Matar Ali Al Romaithi, Director General, Planning and Procurement Directorate, Tawazun Council for Defence Enablement, featured Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director and CEO of EDGE, and Rashid Al Mutawaa, Board Member of ECCI.

Hamad Al Marar emphasized the alignment of this contract with the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology's national industrial strategy, which aims to boost the manufacturing sector's GDP contribution to AED 300 billion by 2031. He highlighted the significance of integrating local suppliers into the UAE's advanced defence ecosystem and enhancing the resilience of the supply chain while generating in-country value.

Rashid Al Mutawaa expressed ECCI's commitment to advancing the UAE's sovereign manufacturing vision through this strategic partnership with EDGE. He reiterated the importance of building national capabilities, reinforcing local supplier integration, and ensuring high-quality execution of mission-critical subsystems.

The contract, announced during the Make It In The Emirates 2026 event, marks another milestone in EDGE's efforts to enhance sovereign industrial capabilities and drive in-country value (ICV) through local collaborations.
