Euro Area Unemployment Steady at 6.3% in April 2026

Brussels: In April 2026, the euro area seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained stable at 6.3%, reflecting no change from March 2026 as well as from April 2025. The European Union (EU) unemployment rate also showed stability, standing at 6.0% in April 2026, unchanged from the previous month and the same period last year.

According to Emirates News Agency, Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, estimated that approximately 13.238 million individuals in the EU were unemployed in April 2026. Of these, around 11.075 million were within the euro area.

When compared to March 2026, there was a decrease of 137,000 unemployed persons in the EU and a reduction of 84,000 in the euro area. In contrast, a year-on-year comparison with April 2025 revealed an increase in unemployment by 82,000 in the EU and by 45,000 in the euro area.
