Santiago: Mohammed Ben Sulayem, President of the F©d©ration Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), met with the President of the Republic of Chile, Jos© Antonio Kast, in Santiago to reinforce the relationship between the FIA and the Chilean Government.

According to Emirates News Agency, the meeting highlighted shared priorities in mobility and motorsport, focusing on road safety, sustainable transport, and the development of motorsport in Chile. The discussions come as South America prepares to host the FIA World Rally Championship in Paraguay and the FIA's American Congress in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

A significant outcome of the meeting was the signing of the FIA's United Against Online Abuse (UAOA) charter by President Kast and the Republic of Chile. This coalition, founded in 2023 by Ben Sulayem, aims to combat online abuse in sport by uniting governments, sporting federations, and technology companies.

Ben Sulayem emphasized Chile's importance within the FIA community due to its motorsport heritage and ambitions in automotive mobility. He acknowledged Chile's commitment to initiatives like hosting the FIA World Rally Championship and investing in road networks, which are crucial for economic growth and tourism.

The FIA President also discussed the organization's efforts to enhance road safety through data-driven initiatives such as the FIA Road Safety Index (RSI) and FIA Driver Safety Index (DSI). These programs provide practical tools for improving road safety performance and reducing traffic fatalities and injuries.

Additionally, the role of the Autom³vil Club de Chile (ACCHI) in promoting safer and sustainable mobility was highlighted. Under President Alejandro Quintana, ACCHI has adopted the FIA DSI and is working on various initiatives to improve road safety, especially around schools.

The discussions also covered motorsport development in Chile and the Federaci³n Chilena de Automovilismo Deportivo (FADECH), the FIA's sporting member in the country.
